Successful launch of our community programme Our community programme, Embracing Tolerance, was successfully launched on March 21st at a school in Tower Hamlets, London. This is the beginning of a long project which works to invite teenagers into a discussion on intolerance and religious discrimination. The aim of the project is to counter the effects of extremism and generate greater awareness of such issues.
The programme consists of a three hour session that includes a video and several discussions surrounding the topic of religious discrimination. The students met the programme with enthusiasm and were keen to share their opinions with one another. It seems that issues relating to religious discrimination - and discrimination more generally - are of concern to young people. It appears clear from the initial session that this programme is likely to have a positive impact on those who participate. We hope that the sessions will continue to draw the attention of young people in all the schools that we visit. Get more information here! Or follow us on Facebook or Twitter for more TI-UK news! |
